Royal Holloway College was founded by the Victorian entrepreneur and philanthropist Thomas Holloway in 1886. Founder’s Building is one of the world’s most majestic university buildings, and home to famous Picture Gallery containing Thomas Holloway’s fine collection of Victorian paintings, and beautiful chapel. Campus is one of the most beautiful in the world with numerous teaching and study spaces, bars and cafés, high-quality accommodation, and sports facilities. All this is set in 135 acres of stunning parkland.

The legend of Oxford’s founding says that Oxford University was founded in 872 by Alfred the Great, but Oxford has no clear date of foundation.
