Royal Holloway College was founded by the Victorian entrepreneur and philanthropist Thomas Holloway in 1886. Founder’s Building is one of the world’s most majestic university buildings, and home to famous Picture Gallery containing Thomas Holloway’s fine collection of Victorian paintings, and beautiful chapel. Famous Highgate Cemetery is one of unusual historical destinations in London. Features include Victorian buildings, chapels, catacombs, The Lebanon Circle and Egyptian Avenue, all of outstanding architectural importance. The most famous resident of Highgate Cemetery East is Karl Marx, whose monument attracts comrades and others from all over the world. Visitors are free to wander through the East Cemetery, with its memorials to Karl Marx, George Eliot and Douglas Adams, but the most atmospheric part of the cemetery is the foliage-shrouded West Cemetery, laid out in 1839. Only accessible on an organised tour.

Every year the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea are transformed into show gardens, inspirational small gardens and vibrant horticultural displays for the world’s most famous flower show. Alan Titchmarsh designs RHS Britain in Bloom 50th anniversary garden at Chelsea Flower Show. The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is attended by 157,000 visitors each year.

Phelps is the greatest athlete in Olympic history. He helped to win the silver medals for his teammates Adrian Nathan, Ryan Lochte, Cullen Jones in the 400-meter freestyle at London Olypics 2012. Still only 27 years old, Phelps has the goal of winning at least three more gold medals in this year’s Olympics to officially become the most decorated Olympic athlete of all time.

Europe’s tallest building stands at 310 metres (1,016ft) and is fully clad in glass. Facilities will include a hotel, restaurant, viewing platform, flats and offices. The Shard will be open to the public with a viewing gallery and observation deck on the 72nd floor. Work on the Shard began in February 2009 and an estimated £450million has been spent on its construction so far. The tower has two main tenants lined up – Shangri-La Hotels, who will be occupying floors 34-52 – and Transport for London who will take some of the office space.

London Gatwick Airport is the UK’s 2nd largest airport, after Heathrow, and the busiest single-runway airport and the 6th busiest airport in the world. Hosting 33 million passengers annually, the airport serves more than 200 destinations in over 90 countries. Gatwick Airport began life as a small flying club back in 1930, and gained its first public license issued by the Air Ministry in 1934, which allowed the Airport to be used by commercial aircraft. It is located in West Sussex, just north of Crawley, and around 29 miles (46km) South of central London, directly linked to the M23 motorway at junction 9 and to the A23 London-Brighton road.
