Ijen volcano in East Java contains the world\’s largest acidic volcanic crater lake, called Kawah Ijen, famous for its turquoise color. The colours of the lake contrast with the sterile moonscape of the rest of the crater. Active volcano, constantly spewing sulfur smoke clubs, is incredible in its beauty blue fire and extremely hard working conditions in the sulfur mine. Sulfur combusts on contact with air to create stunning blue lava-like rivers of light in the Kawah Ijen crater.

Lake Atitlán is a beautiful volcanic lake in the Western Highlands of Guatemala. The lake, 320 metres deep, is 19 km long and 10 km wide, with an area of 127.7 square km. It occupies a valley dammed by volcanic ash. Tz’utujil and Kaqchiquel Mayans have plied its shores for centuries and continue to wear vibrant ropa típica and practice age-old Mayan customs today, particularly in towns such as Santiago Atitlán and Santa Catarina Palopó. Panajachel is one of Atitlán’s main hubs and offers a comprehensive selection of hotels, restaurants, pharmacies, and shops. It also serves as a base for travelers looking to explore the lake’s other villages.

The volcano is located on the island of Flores in Indonesia. The multi-colored crater lakes of Kelimutu are a beautiful geological anomaly. The color range is from red and brown to turquoise and green. It is a passively degassing stratovolcano capped by lakes containing exotic fluids. The local community considers these lakes a sacred place being the abode of the souls of the dead. This spectacular panorama is a very popular tourist attraction.
