The Fish River canyon is one of the most impressive natural beauties in the southern part of Namibia. With a depth of up to 550 metres, the Fish River Canyon is the second largest canyon in the world. The enormous gorge meanders along a distance of approx. 160 kilometres through the fissured Koubis massif all the way down to Ai-Ais. The canyon starts near Seeheim. It is 161 kilometres long and up to 27 km wide and ends at Ai-Ais. The canyon is over 500 million years old, with part of the strata formed as far back as 650 million years ago. The area has become a very popular hiking destination over the years, which includes the well-known Fish River Hiking Trail. The trail is a 4-day activity covering 86 km in total. Hiking trips are available from May to September

Ellis Island was America’s largest and most active immigration station. Ellis Island opened in 1892 as a federal immigration station, a purpose it served for more than 60 years (it closed in 1954). Millions of newly arrived immigrants passed through the station during that time. the immigration station spread over 3 connected islands with numerous structures including a hospital and contagious disease wards. It is estimated that over 40 percent of all citizens can trace their ancestry to those who came through Ellis Island. Ellis Island opened to the public in 1976. Today, visitors can tour the Ellis Island Immigration Museum in the restored Main Arrivals Hall and trace their ancestors through millions of immigrant arrival records made available to the public in 2001.

The New Palace is the largest 18th century structure in the Sanssouci park. It was built from 1763 to 1769 according to the plans of Johann Gottfried Büring, Heinrich Ludwig Manger, and Carl von Gontard, and served Frederick II as a palace for his guests. The palace has different areas. The Grand Tour gives you access to the main part – room after room of beautiful furnished history. This walk can be a bit long and you have to wear special footwear on top of your own shoes to protect the floors. The King\’s apartment tour is shorter, guided and you get to see a lot of books at the end. There\’s also a theater in the Neues Palais, and you can buy tickets for a show there.
