Bristol hosted Europe’s largest ballooning event, an amazing spectacle and free event for the whole family in August 2014. Dozens of hot air balloons have taken off from the Ashton Court estate as part of the 36th annual Bristol Balloon Fiesta. Around half a million people from across the country and beyond flock to Bristol for the Fiesta over four days each August.

The NATO Tiger Meet is the annual flying exercise featuring only the designated Tiger squadrons of NATO. This year’s NTM is hosted by the Luftwaffe’s Aufklarungsgeschwader 51, who fly the Tornado IDS and ECR versions from their base at Schleswig, located in the far north of Germany.

An ultramarathon is any organized footrace extending beyond the standard marathon running distance of 42 kilometers, 195 meters. Ultramarathons are run on roads, trails and tracks. 100 mile trail ran from Winchester to Eastbourne on the South Downs Way. Runners must follow the marked course at all times and minimum entry age is 21.

A dragon boat team consists of 20 paddlers sitting two abreast, plus a Cox who steers the dragon boat from the rear and a drummer who sits at the front. The team of paddlers work in unison to propel the boat forwards from a standing start, the aim being to reach the finish line in the fastest time. Generally a race consists of between 4 and 6 boats. They usually have brightly decorated designs that range anywhere from 40 to 100 feet in length, with the front end shaped like open-mouthed dragons, and the back end with a scaly tail. Boat were traditionally made in the Pearl River Delta region of China\’s southern Guangdong Province out of teak wood to various designs and sizes.

Every year the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea are transformed into show gardens, inspirational small gardens and vibrant horticultural displays for the world’s most famous flower show. Alan Titchmarsh designs RHS Britain in Bloom 50th anniversary garden at Chelsea Flower Show. The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is attended by 157,000 visitors each year.

The White Night Melbourne is a kind of all-night arts festival held in city in the summer. It took place on Saturday 22nd February from 7pm to 7am, The event featured music, dance, visual display, light show, and a variety of buskers. An estimated crowd of more than 500,000 people attended.
